I work for Touchstone, Im more like IT support so programming which is great cause I hated it at uni.
Im glad to know Im not the only one who gets bored, Im an expert on the BBC website too, I wanna get it over and done with to be honest, but I dont stop until mid Septmber cause I thought I might as well earn this much while I can given I wont get anywhere near what I get now with a part time job while im doing my 3rd year. however I do get about a 3 weeks holiday, which i take in June and I'll be off to South Africa so can't wait for that.....I think I wanna do consultancy when I finish cause this is boring

It really interesting to see how many people are not enjoying their placement. I agree I will miss the paycheck when I finish this year. I really don't want to go back to part time shop work! I am really glad I did this placement from the point of view that at least now I can mark programming off my list of things I might want to do when I finish. It will also allow me to pick my final year modules more to suit what I want to do. Before placement I probably would have picked programming because i'm good at it, now I will probably do one programming module and concentrate everything else on other areas.

I think a consultancy/marketing type role would be great, something where you are not sat in front of your PC 24/7! Visiting client offices etc would be a welcome break.

Hello guys,

Aj here, i beg to differ. I am enjoying my placement. Work is chanllenging, also I don't do much of it so :P .. Get to walk around loads... can't really go wrong :).. I fink james and phil just in the wrong team, if they came to my team, they'll probably enjoy it more :). Some of my daily tasks include eating, walking around and fixing minor problems with the product. Also sometimes when they want to release the product for engineering, I have to put it all together compile and make it work :).. I like this, I think i'd be a good debugger :P..

Sorry about the long and random intro, but their's quite a lot i wanted 2 say..

Guys can u start a post in a different topic and tell me what u guys actually do?

Safe AJ

I don't do much either, but that's the problem. I'd rather be doing stuff it makes the day go faster and I'm learning. I find I eat alot too, just sitting at my desk. I love it when I'm doing Network related stuff, we had to move office so I did alot of that, repatching configuring switches and all. But i still think Technical Consultancy is the way forward for me!

I agree, i hate being sat around doing nothing. I'd much rather have a lot to do that just sit at my PC twiddling my thumbs. I really like networking, shame I havn't got anything like that here.
